Summary/Purpose of Position
Under the leadership and direction of staff within the Global Strategic Sourcing department, this semester long internship will offer the opportunity for a student to gain solid sourcing, supplier risk, and business operations risk experience by working in a dynamic environment for a leading global medical device company.
The Global Strategic Sourcing department is responsible for sourcing critical materials, managing key supplier relationships, and managing supply risks. This intern will provide support and customer service for internal cross-functional teams while complying with Bard’s sourcing and corporate procedures. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is highly motivated to grow within the organization in the future, and thrives on an environment of creativity and accountability.
This individual will assist in the areas of sourcing, supplier risk, product supply chain mapping, and monitoring metrics for savings, as well as contribute to the development and implementation of streamlined department processes. In addition this individual will help assess future opportunities for reducing costs of materials and services through evaluation of product lifecycle and/or supply chain simplification.
The Operations & Sourcing Intern will also participate in team meetings, quarterly all employee meetings, attend other company meetings, and participate in several 1:1 meetings with the leadership at Bard to discuss career options in the medical device field.
This is a paid position.

Essential Duties and Position Responsibilities
  •   Managing metric roll up for monthly financial operations
  •   Process mapping with recommendations on efficiencies in several areas of operations and purchasing
  •   Assist in supplier risk and component risk projects
  •   Perform Make vs. Buy and other strategic analysis and present recommendations to management
  •   Support key projects during the semester
  •   Assist with implementation of new sourcing technology


Knowledge and Skills
Formal Education:
Business major or equivalent undergrad or masters level program (e.g. MBA)
Specialized Skills:
Excellent personal communication skills
Must have the ability to work on several projects simultaneously
Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment of accountability
Must be able to analyze data/make data based recommendations
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
Understanding of Microsoft Office Software applications and web based systems a plus 
Exceptional drive to pursue a career in medical device

Desired Availability
Minimum of 20 hours of availability per week
o During regular business hours 8:30AM-5PM Monday – Friday
