Davol Inc. - Operations/Strategic Sourcing Intern

Internship Descriptions:


Under the leadership and direction of the operations department, this semester long internship will offer the opportunity for a student to gain solid purchasing, manufacturing, sourcing, supplier management experience, and business exposure by working in a dynamic environment for a leading global medical device company.

The operations & strategic sourcing department is responsible for purchasing complex components, assemblies, finished goods and services for new product development and manufacturing support. This intern candidate must also provide support and customer service for company franchise teams while complying with Davol’s purchasing department and corporate procedures. Finally, the ideal candidate for this position is someone who is highly motivated to grow within the organization in the future and thrives on an environment of creativity and accountability and improve service levels to all customers.

This individual will assist in the areas of implementing, tracking, and monitoring purchase orders for all major projects and suppliers.  In addition, help maintain and develop new processes within the department to find greater efficiency.


The operations & Sourcing Intern will also participate in weekly project meetings, quarterly all employee meetings, attend company meetings, and participate in several 1:1 meetings with the leadership at Davol to discuss career options in the medical device field.

Internship Duties:
  •           Tracking purchase orders for on time delivery with our suppliers
  •          Assisting in the management of all finished good suppliers
  •        Process mapping with recommendations on efficiency in several areas or operations and              purchasing
  •          Assist in major cost improvement projects
  •      Assist in all major R&D and new item launch projects across all franchises of Davol
  •       Aid in managing work around all major production facilities within CR Bard
  •      Participate in Sarbanes-Oxley Audit

Applicant Requirements:
  •           Business major or equivalent undergrad program
  •           Excellent personal communication skills
  •          Must have the ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  •          Must be comfortable working in a fast  paced environment of accountability
  •          Must be able to analyze data/make data based recommendations
  •           Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  •      Understanding of Microsoft Office Software applications and web based systems a plus
