JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Epilepsy Foundation New England (EFNE) serves people with epilepsy in MA, ME, NH, and RI. Field Service Managers are important members of our team who provide targeted engagement strategies for people with epilepsy and other stakeholders in the epilepsy community in a specific geographic area. Each Field Service Manager is responsible for:

· Convening a Council. Using the model set forth by the Epilepsy Foundation, the Field Service Manager convenes a group of at least 12 volunteers to serve as a RI Council, which will engage in activities that promote Awareness, Services, Advancement, and Participation. The Manager will convene the Council to meet at least monthly.

· Engaging a Regional Professional Advisory Board (PAB), comprised of 4-20 health care professionals with a practice focus on epilepsy who meet at least 3 times per year. The PAB provides strategic and creative direction across EFNE’s programs, services, and initiatives. The PAB also provides expert advice and advocacy support for mission-focused issues involving people with epilepsy, including access to care and regulatory concerns.

· Working with the Council and PAB, conducting outreach and building partnerships with organizations that can help advance services to people with epilepsy or research (e.g., institutions of higher education, businesses, other nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups).

· Working with the Council, acting as the lead organizer (with support from the central EFNE office team) of at least one Walk for Epilepsy and one 5K run per year.

· Working with the Council, acting as the lead organizer (with support from the central EFNE office team) of one major fundraiser (e.g., candlelight dinner) and, one minor fundraiser (e.g., wine tasting) per year.

· Working with the PAB, complete and maintain an asset map of resources for people with epilepsy in the assigned geographic area.

· Working with the Council, using a model set forth by EFNE, lead monthly peer support groups for adults, for parents of children with epilepsy, and for teens.

· Working in part through volunteers, using an EFNE curriculum, provide at least 4 trainings per year on epilepsy to first responders, school personnel, businesses, and others as requested and/or a conference for people effected by epilepsy.

· Working in part through volunteers, using an EFNE curriculum, provide 12+ trainings about epilepsy for K-5 children.

· Working with the EFNE central office, act as a point person for local services, which will include children’s camp programs, professional development, and more.

Needs and services vary from region to region, and the above activities serve as guidelines of minimum expectations.

Supervisory Responsibility This position regularly supervises volunteers.

Work Environment This job operates in a virtual office. EFNE provides technology for tele-commuting and provides remote offices supplies as needed. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products or supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position.

Travel Local travel required; travel to EFNE headquarters in Wilmington MA required 4-6 times for year.

Required Education and Experience

· A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

· Demonstrable understanding of the epilepsy community in the geographic area to be served.

· Experience engaging diverse stakeholders in meaningful work with a nonprofit organization.

Preferred Education and Experience

· 3+ years fundraising experience.

· 3+ years events management experience.

· 1+ years managing volunteers.

· Demonstration of a commitment or tie into the mission of EFNE

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Valid driver’s license. Reliable personal transportation.

Must maintain a virtual office.
