Description: An Event Planning Internship in Admission Office provides excellent experiences for students wishing to pursue careers in fields such as non-profit management, higher educaiton, special events planning, and public relations. Through working with members of the admission staff and prospecitve stuents and their families, interns will grow intellecually and personally, improve their leadership skills, and broaden possible career choices. Experience will be gained in the following areas: college admission processes, event planning, office machines, software use, and familiarity with office procedures, marketing, public relations, and volunteer recruitment and management. The primary responsibility for the Event Planning Internship will be assisting in all aspects of planning and executing three admitted student yield programs (Welcome Days) which are held at the Ryan Center and are attended by approximately 3,000 visitors per event.
Internship Qualifications: Must be in sophomore, junior or senior standing, have strong analytical skills; fluent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, excellent oral and written communications, self-starter who takes initiative, highly reliable, polished, and professional.
Preference will be given to students who have event planning experience.
