Scholarships

The Rhode Island Foundation is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Rhode Island Commission on Women/Freda Goldman Education Award, Bruce and Majorie Sundlun Scholarship, Nondas Hurst Voll Fund and the Paula M. Rivard Memorial Fund.

Rhode Island Commission on Women/Freda Goldman Education Award:

  • To assist with transportation, child care, tutoring, educational material, and/or other support services
  • Rhode Island women
  • Pursuing education or job training beyond high school
  • Preference given to highly motivated, self-supporting, low-income women completing first undergraduate degree or certificate program
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Award: $500 - $2,000 range
  • Previous winners may reapply

Bruce and Majorie Sundlun Scholarship:

  • Rhode Island resident
  • Low-income single parents (men or women) currently enrolled or intends to enroll in a continuing education program beyond high school
  • Preference given to parents currently or previously receiving state aid or those who have been previously incarcerated
  • Award: $1,500 range

Nondas Hurst Voll Fund
  • Single mothers transitioning off public assistance
  • Pursuing higher education or job training beyond high school
  • Award: $500-$1,500 range
  • Previous winners may apply

Paula M. Rivard Memorial Fund
  • Single Rhode Island women
  • Pursuing under-graduate higher education or job training beyond high school
  • Award: $500-$1,500 range
  • Previous winners may apply
