URI Athletics - Marketing Intern

WORK BEHIND THE SCENES OF RHODE ISLAND ATHLETICS!
ATTENTION STUDENTS! The University of Rhode Island Athletic Department is seeking marketing interns for the 2016-17 academic year. As an intern with URI Athletics, you will gain practical skills and knowledge in the sports and entertainment marketing industry. Internships are unpaid but are available for class credit. There are openings in the following areas:

SALES SUPPORT
The Sales Support Intern will conduct market research to identify new sales leads for season tickets, mini plans and group tickets. S/he will make sure all elements of each group outing are fulfilled on game days including unique experiences and special recognitions. The Sales Support Intern will interact frequently with fans to ensure season ticket holders and group members receive excellent customer service before and during games.

CREATIVE SERVICES/GRAPHIC DESIGN
The Creative Services/Graphic Design Interns will produce graphics for digital media, social media and print marketing. They will produce short promotional and informaitonal videos for use in social media marketing initiatives. The Creative Services Interns will also assist with capturing staged photos and videos for future marketing use as well as action photos and video during select games. Applicants for this opportunity should have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other graphic design software.

MARKETING & PROMOTIONS
The Marketing & Promotions Interns will support the marketing and fulfillment of multiple marketing programs by writing copy, updating websites and interacting with fans regularly to fulfill various needs. They will schedule national anthem performers, download and cut music for athletic events, track social media marketing metrics, input data into the email marketing platform and assist with grassroots marketing efforts. Grassroots initiatives include distirbution of posters, yard signs and flyers, as well as staffing marketing tables around campus.

QUALIFICATIONS
·         Current college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Public Relations or similar field
·         Interest in pursuing a career in sports marketing preferred  
·         Ability to work six office hours per week and 1-2 athletic events per week
·         Strong work ethic and attention to detail; flexibility to adapt to changing plans
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic personality
