URI Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Center - Graduate Assistant

Graduate Assistant (GA) Position Opening:  URI Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Center (DFCSC) 

Earn your graduate degree at URI while performing administrative duties for the DFCSC 20hrs/week during the academic year, and full-time in the Summer, with tuition covered, and an approximately $32,000/year salary. Starts: Summer 2016 Position: The position is primarily administrative support for the DFCSC’s academic program. It includes: • Processing of applicants to the DFCSC’s graduate programs. • Basic handling of pre-admission questions, and basic advising for admitted students to the DFCSCs undergraduate and graduate programs. Referral of more complex questions to appropriate faculty and staff members. • Support for marketing of the program including development of advertising material, and direct contact with local companies to market the program to their employees. Marketing is a support function for this position performed under the direction of other DFCSC staff. • Support for the instruction of courses, such as Sakai site development, and teaching material research, as needed. This is a support function under the direction of DFCSC Instructors. 

This GA position is for 20hrs/week during the academic year and 35hrs/week during the Summer. There is flexibility as to how much work time is spent on campus, and how much time is spent working away from campus. Minimally expect two days a week on campus, with more on-campus time preferred. There is no specific required background or skill set to apply for this GA position – just that you are organized and responsible. You must be enrolled full-time in a URI graduate program to take this GA position. We expect students to take two graduate courses per semester towards their graduate degree. Thus, for someone seeking a typical Master’s Degree, this is expected to be a 2-3 year position, contingent on available funding in the program.
