Student Web Assistant

Metcalf Institute, located at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography on the Narragansett Bay Campus, offers programs and resources for journalists, scientists and science communicators to promote improved public engagement with science and environmental issues.
The Metcalf Institute website requires regular and responsible upkeep and careful attention to details. The Student Web Assistant will aid Metcalf Institute staff by updating website (WordPress), troubleshooting, building new features and maintaining integrity of existing content. Computer can be supplied or student can use his/her own computer. The student will be directly supervised by Metcalf Institute's communications director and become an important member of the Metcalf team. This position is for a skilled undergraduate freshman, sophomore, or junior in any University of Rhode Island degree program.
The student will need to have experience and knowledge in website maintenance, coding, updating, trouble-shooting and problem-solving. The student must be responsible, tech-savvy, responsive to direction and able to work independently, have his/her own transportation to the Narragansett Bay Campus and be able to work during the summer. Once hired, the student will be trained and have access to technical assistance. The ideal student in this position will build a place for him/herself on the team and continue to work for Metcalf Institute until graduation.
