BLLC - R.A.M.

The Resident Academic Mentor (RAM) is a part-time live-in position assigned to a designated year living and learning residential community (LLC) for the primary purpose of providing guidance and direction to residents on matters pertaining to their transition to college life and overall academic success.  The RAM will work collaboratively with Academic Partners (colleges, faculty, Deans) in providing resource materials, identifying early warning signs of resident academic distress, coordinating and facilitating in-hall programming, providing one-on-one academic support, and creating and maintaining a residential community that is conducive to academic success.  Each RAM will work, on average, 12.5 hours per week, throughout the academic year. The RAM is expected to attend pre-opening August training, fall residence hall opening, and various other in-service training activities and programs, throughout the academic year.  The RAM is a member of the Department of Housing and Residential Life (HRL) staff with an ancillary relationship with an assigned LLC academic partner through the Educational Coordinator.  In their capacity as peer leaders, RAMs must support all University and HRL policies and community standards, and are expected to encourage positive behaviors and challenge negative behaviors within assigned residential communities.
