Matoney Tax and Financial Services - Tax Intern

Matoney Tax and Financial Services

PAID STUDENT INTERN TO ASSIST IN TAX PRACTICE IN WAKEFIELD RI

Are you interested in starting your own tax practice someday? Or gaining experience to work for a large firm down the road?  We are a small tax preparation business seeking a student intern for the spring 2016 semester tax filing season.  Students will learn how a successful tax practice is run from a former professor of accounting.  As a firm, we strive to provide clients with a great value and good financial advice, and to teach them how to manage their tax information – all while keeping the highest ethical standards. The ideal candidate is extremely organized and detail-oriented and has taken at least 3 credits in taxation.

Professor Joe Matoney Ph.D. C.P.A. recently retired from URI’s accounting faculty and his son J. Daniel Matoney CRFP are the principals in the office, which offers Tax and Financial Planning Services. Joe started this tax practice 25+ years ago with a few returns for friends and colleagues. This is a great opportunity to gain real world tax preparation experience in a fast-paced environment, working closely with a CPA.

This is a paid internship for up to 20 hours per week from February 1 through April 15. Paid training for this position will take place in November and December of 2015. We will work with the intern to come up with schedule that will work around their class commitments but it is required to work during Spring Break 2016.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in assembling and doing final checks on printed tax returns. Assist in general office operations including data entry as well as researching tax problems and special situations.  A background check is required.

PLEASE EMAIL RESUME TO: Joe Matoney at jmatoney@cox.net.
