URI Center for Nonviolence & Peace Studies - Marketing, PR, and Social Media Internship

Internship Description: 

Do you think peace is a big idea? We do! If you think so too, then join our Center in the role of marketing, public relations, social media intern. We are a small team with a big mission -- preventing violence and promoting peace. Are you interested in working on the forefront of social transformation and global peace building? Then step into a key position to help make a difference at URI and around the world. You will work conveniently in a collaborative office environment located in the heart of the URI campus. Interface with the campus community, the State of Rhode Island, and national and international partners. Our signature event is the International Nonviolence Summer Institute held in June, so it is an option to extend the internship through May and June. This internship is an opportunity to gain on-the-ground marketing and social media experience. Learn how to function effectively in a communication liaison role. 



Specific Tasks:

  • designing and implementing creative public information strategies
  • posting on blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and WordPress
  • planning online outreach and promoting Center events
  • developing press releases
  • using various social media.


Qualifications: 

  • Communications, Public Relations, Media, or Journalism Majors
  • A creative, energetic, dynamic person who takes initiative and works independently
  • Ready to assume a leadership role
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Passion for learning and working cooperative with a diverse group of individuals
  • Proficiency in utilizing various types of social media
  • Understanding of and interest in marketing and fundraising
  • Commitment to values of peace and nonviolence
  • Fun-loving spirit and a sense of humor


Hours per week:

10 – 20 hours, flexible Wage/Salary: Work/Study available

Events Hive - Marketing and Events Internship Opportunity

Welcome to Events Hive, a fun and informational website. Events Hive showcases a full event calendar, photo galleries, and the ability to share events with others via social media. View all of the events that are happening for three months at a time as well as information on how to attend. Our online event calendar is designed for those who love to be in the know and enjoy events, but do not want to search dozens of places to see what’s happening. We currently list events in six different locations throughout the country and are expanding into more cities and markets rapidly. From charities, festivals, marathons, tours (and everything in between), Events Hive has it covered.




Internship Responsibilities:

  • Research popular venues and events in each existing and/or potential location
  • Input venue and event information into calendar using an entry form
  • Create and maintain all aspects of social media to expand and promote each existing and potential location
  • Work with the creative team and social media department to develop innovative ideas for current campaigns and expansion into new markets
  • Attend weekly meetings to brainstorm new ideas and discuss the week’s accomplishments
  • Attend events, network, and interact with existing and potential clients and/or sponsors

Internship Details:

Location: Cranston, RI
Office Hours are Monday through Friday . 10-5

Hours can be negotiated.

Compensation:

About the Internship:

Fresh Nest Color & Design is seeking a Spring Intern who will help create a growth strategy & business plan for our growing interior design firm. We are looking for an Intern with experience creating business plans, competitive analyses, business development and business mapping. Candidate should be seeking a degree in entrepreneurial business and be able to think outside the box. Must be a proficient writer, exceptionally detail-oriented and ability to conduct thorough research. In-depth knowledge of Excel required.

Internship Requirements:

  • Market research and competitive analysis for FNC&D
  • Modeling and managing FNC&D's short and long-term growth strategy
  • Developing budget projections, benchmarking and forecasting
  • Developing a formalized business plan and marketing strategy for FNC&D
This internship is not for the faint of heart, we want a motivated and research oriented individual who has a deep desire to be in the process of helping us document our full picture.

South County Hospital - Well Beyond Intern, Human Resources

Internship Description:

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Department, the Intern works with the Wellness Committee to create and promote initiatives to improve the Wellness of South County Hospital staff. After analyzing data demonstrating the needs and desires our staff have for making improvements to their overall health the Intern will collaborate with committee members and other South County Hospital departments and vendors to develop and market programs. This is an unpaid internship.

Intern Requirements:
  •         Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program majoring in Marketing, Wellness, Health Promotions Specialist, or Health Educator.
  •         Interns must receive college credit for this internship.
  •         Must be available to work at least 2 full days (8:30am-5:00pm)
