Internship
runs January to April…busy time is early in semester.
Prior
tax or accounting experience is not necessary
Estimated
30-hour (online) training required over holiday break
Study hours go toward internship hour

is a voluntary (unpaid) position.

Information for Academic Credit for Internship Credit for BUS
493
Qualifications for Credit:
· 3 Liberal elective credits available
· 2.75 GPA or higher
· Minimum 75 credits completed prior to internship
· Must be a College of Business Administration major in
good academic and social standing
· Internship must be related to academic major or career
interests
· You must pass the required VITA training course to
participate in the internship and to qualify for academic credit
VITA Training:
· Required training to Basic Exam level required
· Encourage training
to Advanced level. This will give you
more flexible VITA location options
· Estimate and credit for 30 hours of training toward
the total hours required for academic internship credit
· Training required to be completed by Monday, January
12.
Hours:
· You must work in your internship a minimum of 10 hours
per week and maximum of 15 hours starting end of January. The internship ends mid-April.
· Getting started, please plan to attend the VITA INFORMATION SESSION
DECEMBER 1 at 5pm in Ballentine Hall Room 115
Registration for Academic
Credit:
· You will register for BUS 493, a fully online internship seminar course taken concurrently
with the VITA internship.
· A permission number to register for BUS 493 will be issued upon
verification of successful completion of your VITA training and approval of
internship credit, see Lynne Finnegan for more information.
· Grading for BUS
493 is Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory
Getting
Started for Academic Credit:
· Step 1: Email Lynne Finnegan, CBA Internship Coordinator,
at ltfinnegan@uri.edu after you have been accepted to the VITA program.
· Step 2: Ms. Finnegan will determine your eligibility
for CBA credit and email you the necessary internship paperwork. In some
cases, it may be necessary to meet with Ms. Finnegan or speak with her over the
phone.
· Step 3: Upon your successful completion of the VITA
training AND the successful verification of your eligibility, Ms. Finnegan will
email a permission number to register for BUS 493, the internship seminar
course, which is taken concurrently with the internship
