Rhode Island Small Business Development Center - Interns

RHODE ISLAND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER
SMALL BUSINESS INTERNS

Rhode Island’s economy is built on the strength of its small businesses.  As an intern with the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center (RISBDC), you can be a part of making a positive impact on small businesses across Rhode Island.  The RISBDC has been providing assistance to the state’s small business community since 1983.  Since 2014, the Center has been part of the University of Rhode Island.

The RISBDC provides a variety of types of business assistance to both existing and prospective small business owners and entrepreneurs.  It does this primarily through providing no-cost, confidential assistance in a wide range of areas including business planning, financial analysis, marketing, recordkeeping and a number of other topics.  The Center also provides seminars and workshops on topics of interest to the small business community.  More information about the RISBDC can be found at our website: www.risbdc.org.

Internship Opportunities – The RISBDC is seeking up to five interns to each work 10-15 hours a week.  It is a paid internship ($15.00 per hour) and there are internships available at both URI and our Providence or Lincoln offices.  Interns would be responsible for their own transportation to the job.  The interns would be responsible for assisting and supporting the RISBDC counselors in assisting small business owners and entrepreneurs.  Specific activities would depend on the major and interest areas of the intern.  Examples could include market research; business plan review and analysis; financial analysis and projections; among others.
